CLT GRAPHIC DESIGN HISTORY: A Collective Research Effort

As a collective effort, my classmates and I researched and analyzed historical graphic design artifacts from the Charlotte area. We compiled our findings into one book and uploaded each artifact into the People’s Graphic Design Archive (PGDA).

I found and researched three graphic design artifacts, found at UNC Charlotte’s J. Murray Atkins Library in Collections.

Each artifact was designed according to the design trends of that decade, like the Pepsi newsletter and the trend of Pop Art during that time. For Astor Theatre’s opening advertisement, that form of advertising is known as newspaper display advertising.
